DISH Network HDTV - What It is and Where to Get the Best Deals

HDTV (high definition TV) is all the rage these days, and for good reason. An HDTV picture is so clear you feel like you're looking at a scene through a window. Here's a guide to DISH Network HDTV, plus where to get the best deals.

DISH Network HDTV

First there was analog TV, also known as over-the-air TV. The picture was grainy and prone to white specks and double images, but at least you had a picture. Then along came digital TV which used a totally different broadcast system to produce a sharper, clearer picture. And now we have HDTV with a picture so clear you feel like you're part of the scene.

HDTV really does produce a near-lifelike picture, and when you couple it with surround sound audio, you get an amazing TV viewing experience.

DISH Network has nearly 100 HD channels, however in order to view them you must have an HD compatible TV and an HD receiver. The good news is DISH Network will give you a free HD receiver when you sign up for their satellite TV service.

DISH Network HDTV Channels

Dish Network has HD channels for all TV viewing tastes. You can get your major network stations like ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox, plus get updated news casts 24/7 with HD News.

HD movie channels include HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Starz, Film Fest, TNT, and HDNET Movies. And if you want to watch a recently-released movie without having to go to your local video store, you can get it on pay-per-view with just the click of your remote button.

If you're a sports fan you can watch your favorite sports - football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, tennis, and golf - on channels like the NFL Network, ESPN HD, World Sport HD, Rush TV, NHL Network TV, and others.

If it's special interest programs you're looking for, DISH Network has Animal Planet, Arts and Entertainment, Discovery HD, Food Network, Home and Garden TV, National Geographic Channel, The History Channel, The Learning Channel, The Science Channel, and even a channel devoted to treasure hunting.

The LG BD300 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player

The LG BD300 Network Blu-ray disc player is currently one of the leading Blu-ray models in the market. It is enjoying raving reviews from users worldwide and is proving to be a strong rival for the popular Sony S350 and Sony S550 models.

The most obvious feature that I love about the LG BD300 Network Blu-ray disc player is its new design. It is barely 2.5 inches thick and has a flat and glossy black front interface. As black goes with any color, I much prefer the LG player's design to Sony's models (which are in a strange metallic blue color).

The LG BD300 Network Blu-ray disc player's audio and visual playback for Blu-ray discs is impressively crisp and clear. The start up time is fast and there are no signs of reduction in visual quality in high-speed visual sequences. DVD movies also play well on this LG movie player. The machine can up-convert DVD movies to 720p, 1080i, or 1080p resolutions. Like many players, the LG model has a 24 frames-per-second option to produce a more cinema-like quality.

Setting up the LG BD300 Network Blu-ray disc player is very easy, as there are only 3 cables involved; the power cable, Ethernet cable and the HDMI cable. One of the best features of LG's player is its Netflix feature. Once connected to the internet, you can browse through Netflix's movie database that has over 12'000 movies and TV shows. With a modest sum of about $9 a month, you can watch an unlimited amount of movies from Netflix. You would also receive a free application and software update every month over the internet. There is also a USB port where you can plug in a thumb drive to increase the memory capacity of the player.

LG BD 390 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player Plus Review

It's no overstatement to say that the LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Plus is one of the highest quality players available. There is certainly no shortage of systems that can offer decent audio and visual quality, but this model in particular is the cream of the crop. This is why it consistently ranks highly in product reviews from the multitude of satisfied customers who sing its praises.

This system shines the brightest when it comes to picture quality. It has excellent quality visuals, providing viewers with an experience in unmatched clarity and detail. Much care has been poured into all aspects of the LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Plus, not the least of which is its picture quality. Owners of this system consistently sing its praises in review after review, making it an excellent choice for fans of stellar video displays.

One of the more interesting aspects of this system is that it can be hooked up to your PC via a wireless system. Hooking up the system is not as complicated as some assume. The system comes with Nero software which takes very little time to install. Once it is installed, it is possible to stream video files, music, and pictures onto your Blu-Ray system. This will make for a tremendous viewing experience for those that enjoy integrating their computer systems with their home entertainment items.

If you are among the millions of people who have a Netflix subscription, you'll be glad to know that this system will allow you to stream Netflix files right to the player. This is a huge improvement over watching these items on your PC, since the LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Plus has much better picture quality and navigation control for an all around better viewing experience.

Another huge plus is the ability to play YouTube videos on the TV screen via the Blu-Ray player. YouTube is more than just short files and clips these days. It is home to full length features and other extended files. Now, you can watch your favorite YouTube clips on your TV screen when you purchase a LG BD 390 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player Plus.

Some may wonder if the setup of this Blue-Ray system is difficult to hook to you your TV and entertainment center. Actually, it is very easy to hook up. All you need to do is connect the player to the TV with the corresponding HDMI cable that comes with the system.

This system is affordable for most people, and is very reasonably priced, especially when you consider the excellent quality it provides. For anyone looking to buy a great system with top notch picture quality and a number of additional multimedia features, the LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Plus is the best choice.

Editor's Pick - LG BD390 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player

Besides being one of the best Blu-ray players of 2009, the LG BD390 is one of the best entertainment gadgets to add to your home entertainment system. First of all this model has an amazing Blu-ray performance. It played Blu-ray and DVD movies very well and was also very fast in loading the movies. In fact, it is almost twice as fast as some other brands of Blu-ray players out there (no names shall be mentioned).

The LG BD390 also comes with a wide variety of features to make it a well-rounded entertainment unit. For one, it is one of the very few Blu-ray players in the market that has built-in wi-fi connectivity. This means that the player can play streaming content straight from the internet without the need of a LAN cable. Once connected, you can view content from sites like YouTube, CinemaNow and Netflix. It has on-board decoding for DTS HD and DolbyTrueHD sound formats as well as analog 7.1 outputs. This model also comes with 1GB of built-in memory.

The LG BD390 Blu-ray players sport a reserved look, with a black glossy front and an overall look that would subtly fit into the design of any space. On the front, there is a USB port where you can connect a USB drive of hard drive to the player (for viewing any downloaded content). When it was launched a couple of months ago, the LG BD390 was quite pricey making it less of an ideal choice for price-sensitive customers. Now, you can buy one of these for just around $237 each. Talk about getting the best at a bargain!

LG BD 370 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player

Blu-ray players have been around for quite some time. Bluray did win its battle with HD-DVD a while ago and is now the standard HD media definition. A lot of blu-ray players allow you to watch high definition movies in HD and enjoy your HD experience, but there are only a few that go beyond that and allow you to do more with your player. LG BD 370 is one of of those.

LG BD 370 is the most recent LG Blu-ray network player that allows you to go beyond movies and bring more content to your HDTV through your high-speed Internet connection. The device comes with NetCast for YouTube and CinemaNow. That means you can use your gadget to watch YouTube videos right on your TV.

LG BD370 provides you with full high definition (1080P) capability. It also up-converts your non-HD media. You can also take advantage of Netflix HD-BD to play Netflix content right on your HDTV. All that can be done through your high speed Internet connection. All you have to do is connect your gadget to your Internet connection via Ethernet, and you are all set.

LGBD370 is not for everyone. If you don't have an HDTV or don't want to break the bank on high definition movies, you should look elsewhere. It's true that you can watch Netflix BD using this device, but it would be hard to justify the price of the device without proper content. But if you are looking for an innovative gadget that allows you to get more content on your HDTV using your broadband internet connection, you should try this player. The picture is crisp and the sound quality is top notch. Add to that the fact that you can watch thousands of YouTube videos on your TV, and you will have enough content to consume for years.

LG BD 390 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player Review

Design: The LG BD 390 has gone for a conventional and refined look complete with a glossy, reflective faceplate accented by silver trimmings. The player offers an LCD screen near the center along with four playback controls. A removable plastic cover hides a USB port on the front. While the footprint remains more or less standard the player looks thinner and sleeker, allowing it to fit well in both home and office. The remote control was very good with simple to use and large sized controls.

Specifications: The LG BD 390 is Profile 2.0 compatible and with its 1GB of on-board storage you won't need a USB flash drive to access BD-Live features and content. As the player is equipped with both an Ethernet port as well as IEEE 802.11n WiFi this isn't a problem. Thankfully the player also supports 802.11b/g networks as well. Through its USB port the player can also handle MP3, JPEG, PNG, AVI, WMA, DivX-HD, XVID and even MKV file formats. With a fast connection the player can stream media to PCs on your network. The player also offers onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio along with support for bit stream output. It can also play DVDs in legacy DTS formats, like DTS 96/24, ES, ES Matrix, and Neo:6. Connection wise, the player offers a HDMI output, a component video output, a legacy composite video output, 7.1 analog outputs, optical and coaxial digital audio outputs as well as analog stereo output.

Features & Performance: With support for Netflix streaming and built-in Wired and wireless connectivity the LG BD 390 offers plenty of new features. The player also offers support for YouTube and CinemaNow. The interface is simple but surprisingly responsive with super fast loading times. Performance for video quality was also top notch with almost no jagged edges. DVD performance was also excellent. Overall, with so many extra features, the LG BD 390 still delivers great quality as a Blu-ray Disc player. The extra features like the Netflix support and wireless connectivity make the player perfect for the HD viewer who likes to stay connected.

Christmas Electronics - LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Review

The way that you will watch TV and movies in the future is not how you watch them right now. Several devices have come out that are redefining the way we receive our in-house entertainment. The LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player is one of these devices.

What is a network Blu-ray disc player anyway?

I will tell you a funny story. My friend Shirley wanted to get a Blu-ray disc player because she had seen the improved video quality at her friends house. She visited Amazon.com and simply bought the best selling Blu-ray disc player, the LG BD 390.

I asked her, "Have you been downloading movies from Netflix?"

She looked at me oddly and said: "Richard, this is a Blu-ray player. I can't watch movies from the Internet!"

We had a good laugh as I said, "Shirley, this is a networked Blu-ray disc that you have. Not only can you download movies from Netflix and many other sources, you can also view the media from your computer!"

Shirley was dumbfounded as she did not realize the capabilities that her LG BD 390 Blu-ray disc offered.

If you are looking to buy a Blu-ray disc player this holiday season, you definitely want to consider this model. Why? Because it is much more that just a Blu-ray disc player.

The LG BD 390 Blu-ray disc player is a networked device. This means that the player can connect wirelessly to both the Internet and your home network. What does this offer you? Much more than a traditional Blu-ray player at about the same price.

Let's have a quick look at the features of this LG device. If you have ever wondered how to watch downloaded movies on your top rated LCD TV, this is the way to go. Of course, you could learn how to connect your computer to your TV, but this involves a bunch of wires and moving your computer. This player connects directly to several movie download sources including Netflix, Vudu, and Netcast to let you watch virtually anything instantly on your TV without the computer as a middle man.

Additionally, this device allows you to connect to your computer wirelessly and display all of your computer media files including videos, photos, and music on your television.

On top of all of these features, it is also an outstanding Blu-ray player. So, if you are thinking of getting Blu-ray this Christmas, get the one Blu-ray player that does much more, the LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player.
