Blu Ray Players - Important Features and Buying Guide

Blu Ray is the latest high definition video technology that over took HD-DVD as the standard for high definition movies, video and players. With the invention of Blu Ray disks comes not only comes superb picture quality, but also a new durability and longer life span of the disks themselves not before seen with DVD disks and movies. Another benefit is that these disks can store a much larger amount of data and video than the traditional DVD-R and DVD-RW disks. Up to 25GB of data on a single layer disk and up to 50GB of data on a dual layer disk and over 9 hours of high-definition video on a 50GB disc.

Choosing a Blu Ray player will mostly depend on your personal budget as their prices range from budget models to very expensive high performance types.

For those shopping for the best Blu-ray disc players and know that price is not a limitation, then there are several quality brands to choose from on the market. The problem is that most consumers do not know how to compare one Blu-ray with another. As far as image goes, most of today's brands offer the same high-definition picture quality and really just differ in the features of each player.

When shopping for a Blu-ray player, there are two new features to look for when choosing a brand. The first is called Bonus View and lets you play back picture-in-picture content, which allows for a second video and audio stream.

The second feature to look for is called BD-live which supports Internet-connected activities such as social networking and interactive gaming as long as there is an Ethernet connection to the player.

If a more traditional unit is your preference, then the Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD is more your speed. This top shelf Blu-ray player runs around 800 dollars and comes with the same features as other brands. Where the Pioneer Elite tops other systems is in its audio features. If you pair the Elite with its manufacturer's recommended AV receivers, you will have a premium home entertainment experience like no other Blu-ray disc player on the market.

If you are looking for something cheaper without sacrificing quality, then the LG BD300 is the player for you. With most systems starting at below 300 dollars, these lightweight Blu-ray players offer the same picture quality as most units on the market while also offering the ability to stream Netflix videos right into your home.

The Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-Ray Player

If you are considering buying a serious, no frills Blu-ray disc player, consider the Samsung BD-P1500 1080p. To put it in a nutshell, the Samsung Blu-ray player has all the basic features of an average player and of course the reliability factor of the Samsung brand.

The Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray player is black in color and sports a very minimalist design, with only a disc ray and a cursor button. Almost all other forms of navigation will have to be don on the remote control. The Samsung model is slightly more bulky than the many popular models in the market, but it is barely noticeable. It is 3.3 inches tall, 10.8 inches long and 16.9 inches wide.

The video and audio playback quality of the Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray player is very good, playing audio CDs and DVDs at a noticeably improved quality. Like many Blu-ray players in the market, the Samsung model comes with an Ethernet port that allows for online firmware updates and also a USB port to increase its memory capacity with a thumb drive.

The Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray player is pretty much silent most of the time. My only complaint is that when you load a disc, you can hear the machine ticking from over 6 feet away. Other than that, while the movie is playing, the machine is virtually mute - no fan noise, no ticking, nothing. It also has a pretty fast loading time (10-15 seconds). An important thing to note is that the Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray player does not support 5.1 or 7.1 analog outputs.

DVD Players - The High-Definition DVD Players

A digital versatile disc player is a device that plays discs produced in video and audio formats. Most of these players allow users to play audio and video compact discs (CDs) also. The player reads and obeys the DVD's regional lockout codes and displays a warning if it is not authorised to play it. These players usually read a DVD disc in ISO - UDF version 1.2 format. Mostly these are of the same dimensions as a CD but can store up to 6 times as much data.

Some new players also play videos in MPEG-4 ASP video compression format. They are usually cheaper than VCRs. Presently; China is the largest producer of DVD players. There is also another variety of players that is called software DVD players. These players allow the users to view videos on a computer. Some examples of these include VLC Media Player, PowerDVD and WinDVD.

The LG's DivX (PDP) has a 7 inch wide swivel LCD screen. The player supports a number of file formats like VCD, JPEG, DivX, CD-R and WMA. The player's 100x High Speed Smooth Scan allows the users to view videos and movies with crystal clear resolutions. Its user-friendly on-screen Graphics User Interface makes it very simple to operate and use. The device comes packaged with a removable battery pack and an in-car charger. Other big players like Sony, Philips and Panasonic have also come up with a range of slim and lightweight players.

Most portable DVD players come equipped with a LCD monitor and stereo speakers. PDPs are best suited for use during long travels. Most common PDP screen size is 7 inches although there are some models that have screen size of up to 12 inches. Some models of PDPs are offering a high screen resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Newest models of PDPs come with a swivel screen that can be rotated through 180 degrees. Some PDPs also have built-in iPod docks, USB & SD card slots and fold flat.

Blu-ray Disk Player Panasonic DMP-Bd60

Panasonic DMP-bd60 comes with the special features of PHL Reference Chroma process that combines high quality images and more integrated networking functions. The PHL reference Chroma also allows clear and reliable images. The 2009 Blu-ray DMPbd60 has included the VIERA link, which integrates audio and video function by allowing the user to use one remote control for both using HDMI.

The Blu-ray Panasonic BD60 also comes with the ability to connect directly to internet and access bonus features. This allows for regular updates and improved technological features, such as games and movie studio production. You basically can see movies still uploaded only at YouTube or CinemaNow.

To be able to share documents between the computers and the Blu-ray Panasonic BD60, a provision for a USB flash port has been made. You can basically download music or videos into your flash disk and then play them in the Panasonic BD60. This not only allows sharing, but also improved the quality of the output video or audio. Both the SD memory card and the USB slot will enable you to enjoy memories in HD almost as clearly as the day of shooting or recording. The precision levels are high going to 4.4.4.

With the Blu-ray disk player Panasonic DMP bd60, you will not need to go to cinema halls. You have the chance to enjoy a full big screen cinema just as much as you would enjoy it when you go the cinemas. The sound quality is compatible with the big industry players, such as Dolby Sounds. The 24p cinema mode is like being moving the cinema hall into your living room or the reverse.

This Blu-ray Disc player also has a high tech audio decoder that features Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio Essential for sound output. You can only compare this to a live music production in vacyume where no other sound can be heard. Each voice is selected and played differently. Some times you may feel that the sounds come from different speakers. The high quality is also partly due to 7.1 channel surround sound now.

Panasonic has also keep its foot ahead in the keeping the green image. The new technology will assist in reducing carbon emission and saving the world from global warming. This is in line with its policy of reducing the planet's carbon levels.

By doing this, Panasonic has kept the pledge to reduce the planet carbon amounts. The power consumption in the new Blu-ray players is much lower compared to the tradition Blu-rays. The reduction in energy consumption is great with about 10 percent less consumption of power. This has led to the rating of energy

The Panasonic BD80 is even a greater improvement to watch in the near feature. The move towards completely integrating the technology with the web based internet technology will soon allow for sharing of information in the web with someone in his or her sitting or movie room. Even more is the ability to use the Bluetooth technology to share the information from one Blu-ray player to another, just like computers are able to do.

A Look at the Samsung BD-P1600 1080p Blu-Ray Disc Player

The Samsung BD-P1600 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player is one of the top best selling blu-ray disc players on Amazon. It is also one of a few that will stream Netflix for you. If you like HD quality pictures, then this will definitely satisfy you with the 1080p resolution.

Formats It Will Play

I love backwards compatibility. This unit does not disappoint in this matter. It will play the HD Blu-ray discs, DVDs, CDs, MP3 discs, JPEG discs, AVCHD, and others. This is quite an exhaustive list. I am impressed!

Streams More Than Just Neflix

It also streams YouTube, Blockbuster, and even Pandora. This gives you even more options to watch your favorite show.

Wireless Ready

You can purchase an additional wireless dongle that will allow this unit to connect to your home network wirelessly. Samsung has a proprietary Link Stick that serves this purpose. Of course, it comes with a wired Ethernet connection to connect to your network.

Memory Stick

If you somehow run out of memory with this unit, you can use the USB ports to plug in a memory stick.

User Reviews

Looking at the large number of user reviews for the Samsung BD-P1600, it seems that most people are impressed with the price point as well as the picture quality. People are reporting that the HD movies play and show very well on screen and that Pandora sound is excellent as well. The up-conversion when playing regular DVDs, however, is not that great. But, you have to remember that you cannot recreate information that just isn't there which is what up-conversion is trying to accomplish.

Overall, you will be getting a good unit for a good price.

An iPod Car Adapter Makes The Most Of Your iPod

There is no question that the most popular portable music player on the market is the iPod. With its small size, large memory, and digital sound, iPods allow you to bring a massive music library with you wherever you go, and it all fits in the palm of your hand. iPods are becoming increasingly ubiquitous as more and more consumers eschew compact disks in favor of the convenience, portability, and performance of these small wonders. However, iPods are not perfect and if they have a shortcoming it is most obvious when you would like to use your iPod in the car, unless, of course, you have purchased an iPod car adapter.

While some new cars are equipped with iPod docking stations, it is a rare feature that was not available until very recently. For the vast majority of drivers their car stereo is still designed to accommodate compact disks, which up until recently were the music medium of choice. Because an iPod can store hundreds of music titles its advantages over compact disks are obvious, and iPod owners naturally want to utilize this while driving in their automobiles, and they need an iPod car adapter to do that.

There are several types of iPod car adapters on the market. The most basic model would be for use in cars that still have an analog cassette player. For those automobiles, a cassette adapter can be plugged into the headphone jack of the iPod, and the cassette can be inserted into the car stereo. However, the sound quality of this option is not ideal, and most late model cars have CD players instead of cassette players.

If your car has a compact disc player, then a cassette iPod car adapter is obviously not an option. The Neo iON is the latest and best iPod car adapter on the market. The iON plugs directly into your iPod and is connected through a cable that plugs directly into the CD changer port that is located on the back of your car CD player. Installing the iON requires some degree of skill and time and those who are less mechanically inclined may opt to have it professionally installed. The iON provides a direct connection that delivers the highest quality digital sound, but perhaps the most enticing feature is the way your iON and iPod interface with your car stereo system. Once attached to the iON, you no longer have to fumble with the buttons on your iPod while driving. Instead you can change musical tracks by using the existing buttons on your car stereo.

Installing an iON in your automobile has obvious advantages, but those advantages come at a cost. The iON is not portable, it becomes part of your car, so if you own several cars you would need to install an iON in each if you want to bring your iPod with you wherever you go. Further, if your car stereo does not have a CD changer port then an iON would not be compatible with your car. If those scenarios describe you, then an iPod car adapter with a universal FM modulator is what you need. A FM modulator will allow you to broadcast your iPod through one of several FM frequencies, and you can tune in your iPod on your car radio.

Another desirable feature of an iPod car adapter, such as the iON and the FM modulator, is that they provide a power source for your iPod so you do not have to worry about charging your iPod's battery; it happens automatically. An iPod car adapter gives you the ability to listen to your entire music library for as long as you want, and as far as you drive.

HDMI vs DVI - Which is Better?

Are you looking out to buy a DVD player/TV/home theatre? Then you are probably worrying about HDMI Vs DVI questions: which is better? Are they compatible? HDMI Vs DVI, which should I opt?

Which is better? HDMI or DVI?

Let's first understand what they are. Both of them are standards for carrying digital signals between a source like your set top box or Blu-ray disc player and your TV. High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), which connects like USB, is a licensable audio/video connector interface for transmitting uncompressed, encrypted digital streams. HDMI was derived from DVI. It has more bandwidth capability (5Gbps to 10Gbps). Unlike DVI, which needs a separate cable to carry audio, HDMI uses a single cable for video and audio making the cabling less bulky. Not just that, HDMI cables can go up to 15m length, giving you the flexibility to design your living room.

HDMI supports automatic screen format conversion. It can automatically convert a picture into its most appropriate format, such as a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios. HDMI produces pictures that are sharper and smoother (up to 1080pi resolution). Though DVI can produce similar picture quality, HDMI betters it in audio.

Are HDMI and DVI compatible?

HDMI is fully'backward'compatible with DVI. For example, if you have a DVD player with a DVI connection and a HDMI LCD TV, it works. All you need is a HDMI/DVI adapter. But some HDMI features will be lost if you use an adapter like automatic screen format conversion and universal remote control.

HDMI Vs DVI

If you are buying both HDTV and a video player like Blu-ray Disc player, I suggest you go for HDMI for both. You can free up your living room of messy cables that you find in other home theatres. You can use a single remote to operate all the devices connected and it provides the best video and audio. But if you already have one of a DVI source or DVI TV and then just go for a DVI for the other one as well because going for HDMI does not increase the overall quality of experience.

Overall, I recommend HDMI because it gives you better quality of video and audio, has lesser cables and gives you the universal remote control. Add the DRM (Digital Rights Management) angle to it, HDMI may well be the standard in days to come.

Sony BDP-S360 1080p Blu-Ray Disc Player

The Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray player is the new replacement model for last year's very popular S350. This new model ships with a central unit, a remote, a composite cable, AC adapter, batteries and a series of manuals (it does not come with a HDMI cable).

One of the main highlights of this new model is not its video quality (the Blu-ray movie playback was very impressive but seems similar to the older S350), but the new audio features. The new S360 can decode DTS HD and Dolby HD audio so you don't need to get a separate receiver unit. It also comes with BD Live and Bonus View features.

The Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray player currently has the quickest startup time in the market. When you load the disk into the tray, you can start viewing the Blu-ray movie in just 6 seconds. It also uses Sony's Precision Cinema HD technology that up-scale the quality of DVD movies to full HD 1080p quality (as much as it possibly can). Then there is the Precision Drive technology that helps you play bent or scratched discs.

This new model has a clean and glossy front panel. It is designed to blend with any other Sony HDTVs or Sony home theater systems. The BDP-S360 is also more energy efficient. It uses 15% less power while playing movies and 20% less energy while it on standby mode. This model works best with other Sony products. If you plug it in with a Sony HDTV, the Sony Bravia Sync feature will automatically turn the HDTV on when you hit the play button on the player, so you will only need to use one remote control when you watch a Blu-ray or DVD movie. The setup of the BDP-S360 didn't take long and the setup menu interface was very easy to use.

160GB iPod Classic Digital Media Player

The digital music player continues its evolution from simple audio player to complex multimedia device. Most MP3 players come with color displays and the ability to show digital photos transferred from your computer, sometimes with accompanying music. Many MP3 players also play back movies, music videos, and TV shows downloaded from the Web or videos taken with your camcorder. Some MP3 players can make their own recordings from a TV or download and share their content wirelessly over a Wi-Fi connection.

Digital music players vary in price and performance. Which models will give you the most value for your money? Recommended models are those that, based on my evaluation, deserve special consideration. I highlight this high-scoring model that combines performance, features and value, so that you may choose this product if it best suits your budget and lifestyle.

Your decision in a player doesn't end with brand and model; you often also need to decide how much storage you want. Price rises with capacity, but performance, size, and weight should remain fairly constant within a model line. My advice: Buy the biggest capacity your budget allows.

Flash-memory players typically offer the smallest, lightest, and most affordable way to enjoy MP3 music on the go. But capacity maxes out at 32 gigabytes (GB)--or about 8,000 songs at standard MP3 compression format--about a fifth of the most capacious hard-disk models. Hard-disk models offer more versatility and capacity than any flash player. But they tend to be bulkier.

All players accept music you already own on CD, which you convert into digital music files and transfer to the player using software such as iTunes, Windows Media Player, and other programs. And all can play copyright-protected music downloaded from online stores. Non-iPods can play songs downloaded from a variety of online stores; iPods work mainly with iTunes, but you can also download songs from Amazon, Wal-Mart, Real and Rhapsody.

For the best balance of high capacity and price:

The 80GB and 160GB Classics are gone, so the 160GB is extremely rare. Now there's now only one: a 120GB model (30,000 songs) stuffed into the same case as the old 80GB model, with the same price tag. Despite its diminished specs, the Classic is still one of the most capacious players you can buy, with enough room for 40,000 songs. Battery life is still among the best, audio playback time is 62 hours, compared to 48 hours on the 120GB model. Video playback is 7 hours. And since the Classic costs only a little more than some rival players with a fraction of the capacity, it's also a great value. It has a volume limiter and can play its content on a TV with an optional accessory. Very Good ease of use. Very-good-sounding headphones and very good picture and video quality. Has slideshow with simultaneous music, a volume limiter that can be pass-code protected, an alarm, stopwatch, games, volume leveling, calendar, contacts appointment application, text viewer, lock control, multilingual menus, and Mac support. Can view video or images on a TV with optional accessory. Can edit playlist on player.

Packed with all the usual features like a calendar and contact display, audiobook playback, photo slide-show playback and video podcasts, the iPod now also features three new games, Vortex, iQuiz, and Klondike, and more can be downloaded from iTunes. You can also download music videos and your favorite television shows from the iTunes store and watch them wherever and whenever you want. The impressive 2.5" LCD Screen has a brightness adjustment mode so you can get more from your battery life as well as adjust the brightness to fit the rooms light level.

The classic iPod Click Wheel combined with the new and improved interface make the new iPod the perfect combination of new features and proven design for anyone who likes to carry their entertainment with them.

Easy to use, excellent sound quality and huge Memory. You will love iTunes Store and super long battery life. Best Uses: Movies, Music, Photos. Easy to use Interface, Elegant Design, Good capacity, Unlimited accessory possibilities. Durable. Genius feature is awesome. High Music clarity. Easy to organize. Loud Sound and huge options.

This 160gig has huge memory for all your music, pictures, videos and TV shows. You can buy fantastic accessories to use it with. It can be used with a portable sound system and the iPod just slides right into the base in front. If your car has a direct cable hookup for the iPod, you can take it with you everywhere and let it shuffle so driving is safer with no distractions from pushing buttons, etc. You won't give up you iPod 160 gig up for anything! If you have an extensive music library, this is perfect for that.

Apple makes really well designed devices. You can also use a third party application and load your own music without having to load Quicktime or other invasive programs on your PC. iPods are easy to use, easy to understand and easy to hold no matter how bulky. They last forever.

And to clear up any "i can't fast forward the song/video" you press the center button while in the song/video to where it is a line with a diamond and then you use the click wheel to search through the song/video. iTunes is really easy to search with. Plus they actually use regular money, not points. Easy to load. Plenty of room to store music, podcasts, audio books. Apple help site can help you re-set it to get it back up and running, no matter how badly you treat it.

Also called onboard or built-in memory. The amount of internal memory to store music that comes with the player. Some MP3 players have additional memory slots into which removable media such as CompactFlash, MultiMedia, Secure Digital, and SmartMedia cards can be inserted.

160 GB

Expansion memory format

The format for the removable memory medium used in a flash-memory player. Most are external cards (some the size of a matchbook) that install into the player. Among the most common are CompactFlash, MultiMedia, Secure Digital, and SmartMedia. In addition, some players use a proprietary memory format, such as Sony's MagicGate Memory Stick (a copyright protection version of Sony's existing MemoryStick media). Such formats may work only on products of the brand for which they're designed--a disadvantage if you want to swap memory media with another brand of handheld device. You must get the correct type of storage for your player; check with the manufacturer or retailer if you're uncertain. Some hard-disk players have removable memory media for transferring files; however, you cannot play music directly from the card.

Batteries

Some flash-memory players use AA or triple A batteries and can accept either standard alkaline or rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. Standard AA or triple A alkaline batteries cost $1 or less each; the rechargeable batteries cost about $3 each. If the player you buy doesn't come with rechargeables and a charger, purchasing them separately could save you money in the long run. Some hard-disk players use a more expensive and harder-to-find rechargeable non-standard "block" or "gumstick" shaped Nickel Metal-Hydride (Ni-MH) or Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) removable battery. Beware of players that use a non-removable rechargeable battery. When they can no longer hold a charge, the player has to be sent back to the manufacturer to be professionally serviced, which can be costly.

Ease of use

Ease of use mainly covers player characteristics that aid in convenience, versatility, and portability. These primarily include navigation and scrolling features; the accessibility and readability of the controls; and the readability and breadth of the information in the display (such as music-track data and battery-life indicator); size and weight; and ease of use while walking or jogging. Some features and capabilities considered include the presence of an FM radio, built-in microphone, upgradeable firmware, equalizer, data storage, software assessment, and the player's ability to be recognized as a hard drive by the computer without the installation of additional drivers.

What Do You Know About the LG BD300 Blu-Ray Disc Player?

The LG BD300 blu-ray network disc player is one of the best blu-ray players on the market today. This product enjoys some of the best reviews from users all over the world and has proven to be a strong rival for the other popular Sony S550 and S350 models.

One of the most obvious features about this player that I love the most is its design. It's slightly less than 2.5 inches thick and has a glossy and fat black front interface, a pure even blue colour tone. I personally prefer the design of the LG player over all the Sony models, which are featured in a metallic blue colour.

These blu-ray players by LG are capable of impressive clear and crisp visual and audio playback. The load up times of these players is extremely fast and there's no sign of reduced quality in high-speed movie sequences. This LG player is capable of playing DVD movies. This device is also capable of converting DVD movies to 1080p, 1080i or 720p resolutions. Like with most players out there, the LG model has an option for 24 frames per second, giving you that cinema-like quality.

Setting this blu-ray player up is quite an easy task as there are only 3 cables that you have to fiddle around with; the Ethernet cable, power cable and HDMI cable. The Netflix feature is probably the best feature of the LG player. Once you've hooked this device up to the net, you can browse Netflix's movie database of over 12 thousand TV shows and movies. At a low price of $9 per month, you can watch as many movies as you want.

Do You Have a DVD and CD Scratch Remover

CDs and DVDs have brought a new era of viewing movies and listening to music. They have replaced the analog audio and video cassettes. They are the new ways of enjoying audio and video. It has enhanced the audio visual quality. It has also introduced the digital display and Dolby sound system. This sophistication also demands intensive maintenance.

Scratch is the main issue that we need to take care of for the maintenance of CDs and DVDs. Therein lies the importance of the scratch remover. Let's look at its features.

Scratches occur due to dust. If you keep your disks in the open then the incidence of dust on the disks are very common. Always keep the disks inside a cover or a case. It would prevent your disks from unwanted harms. There are many fashionable and designer cases that are available in the market. It will enhance the decorum of your room and also assure the safety of the disks that it contains.

Most of the time, the players lose their efficiency due to the CD and DVD scratches. This efficacy is hampered by the scratches. Even the scratches contribute towards the deformed picture quality. Lets say, you hope to see a movie in leisure and play the disk in the disk player. It would disappoint you highly if the movie were to skip many scenes or have some deformed scenes. To avoid this inconvenience, you should use the scratch remover.

They help you in achieving the quality picture that you deserve from the players and disks. Only buying quality disks does not finish your job in receiving quality pictures. No matter how good the disk is, it would be damaged when it gets exposed to filth. You would definitely have a craze to see good movies and listen to good music. If the player is a must for you, then the scratch remover is also a must.

There are DVD and CD scratch remover kits. These are equipped with all the essential commodities that would be needed for cleaning and removing a scratch from a disk. Some of the scratch remover kits contain scratch removing liquid that needs to be wiped off of the disks. There are also some kits that are motorized, and well designed equipment used to remove scratches. You have to see and inspect the remover well before actually using it. You have to inquire whether the type of scratch remover would be suitable and appropriate for your player and disks.

The Best Blu-Ray Players As of August 2009

LG BD390 Blu-ray Player: Although it was Sony that has brought us the Blu-ray disc format, at the time of writing it is LG that manufactures the best Blu-ray player in the market. The great Blu-ray and DVD movie playback is just the beginning of the long list on what is great about this player. Whether it is in terms of loading speed and video quality, the BD390 came up on top of its class. Besides having a great video playback, it also comes with many great features. For starters it has built-in wi-fi capabilities so that you would not have to connect a cable to view online content. Once connected to the internet, you can view online content from YouTube, Netflix and CinemaNow. This player comes with on-board decoding for DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD audio signals. It also has 7.1 analog outputs.

Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray Player: The Panasonic DMP-BD60 is another bag of goodies. It has excellent movie playback (especially for Blu-ray discs) and comes with an array of extra features. This model can also stream online content, but it does not come with wi-fi connectivity. You can also access Amazon on Demand movies on this player. The loading time of Blu-ray movies isn't as fast as would like it to be. Overall, the Panasonic DMP-BD60 is a great BR player, especially for its price range.

Sony BDP S360 Blu-ray Player: The Sony BDP S360 is the best no-frills Blu-ray player in the market. It does not have many of the extra features of the two models above but serves its main purpose (playing Blu-ray movies) really well. The loading time was pretty fast and the video quality was generally very good. It is the perfect buy for anyone who is looking for a simple and straightforward BR player.

Best Dual DVD Player

Kids get easily bored when they need to be in the car for hours because of a long trip from home to some other places. To keep them from getting bored, you can mount a certain piece of entertainment device so that they will enjoy the ride.

Some parents buy their kids portable DVD players which can only be used by one person at a time. If you more than one kids, it is not advisable to have a long trip on a car without giving each kid an entertainment device. To save money, it'll best to buy some of the top dual DVD player available in the market.

The best dual DVD player can come from different electronics and digital companies however, it'll help you more on deciding which DVD gadget to use by visiting online shopping websites such as Amazon and eBay. Amazon and eBay contains several dual DVD gadgets with the best features at the most affordable price. You can also browse customer reviews to get an idea about a certain product.

Dual DVD players just like any wide-screen single DVD players are easy to mount. In fact, you do not need a professional installer to install your dual DVD gadget for you. Most of these dual devices come with a mounting accessory to help you mount it the back of each seat of your car.

I suggest that you carefully get to know the product by researching on it. Check whether it can play different file formats just to make sure that you will have no problems playing all types of video and picture formats you like. Check the audio, headset or speaker as well if it is working fine and if it audible enough when used inside the car. It is also a big plus if you can just press on a remote control if you wanted to change settings or watch another movie.

Lastly, you can also insert disk on some DVD gadgets however some dual DVD players require much effort placing in a disk. Make sure that the DVD gadget you will buy won't give you such problems.

Lowest Priced 3D Blu-Ray Players

This year we saw all the major brand name manufacturers come out with new 3D HDTVs and 3D Blu-ray Players. Whether this new trend in Home Entertainment will catch on, only time will tell. One thing is for sure, prices will need to drop for this to happen. A new 3D TV can cost anywhere from $2000.00 to $4000.00. Not exactly price friendly, when you have to purchased 3D Glasses that cost $150.00 per pair. And if you want to watch the latest 3D movies, a 3D Blu-ray Player is required. The good news is that, while 3D TVs are still relatively expensive, there are some 3D Blu-ray Players that can be purchased at a very reasonable price.

One of the great things about a 3D player is you do not need to own a 3D TV. 3D players function as a standard player, with the added feature of 3D capability. So, if you are considering buying one, it might be a wise investment to purchase one that supports 3D playback. It will save you from having to replace your player if you happen to get a 3D TV in the future.

Many flagship players from manufacturers are 3D capable, putting them in a higher price range than entry-level or mid-range players. They can fall anywhere between $300.00 to $500.00. But there are a few 3D players lower than $300.00, some even lower than $200.00. I have complied a list of some of the lowest priced 3D Blu-ray Players. All of which are great players, that have excellent sound and image quality nor matter if you are playing standard or 3D Blu-ray Discs.

Why do my Burned CDs not Play in my CD Player?

So you just burned a mix CD of your favorite tunes for a road trip you and your friends are going on. You play the disc back on your computer, everything works like a charm. You might have even tried playing it back on your new home stereo, and just like on your computer, it plays fine. You head out, pop the CD into your car stereo you bought in 1998, and.........nothing. The disc just spins and you get no playback. I've had this happen to me on numerous occasions. And have always wondered, why does my CD play on some players yet not on others? There are a few different things that factor into this.

1. CD-R vs. CD-RW.
You should be burning your audio CDs to CD-R media, not CD-RW media (CD re-writable). Some newer players will play CD-RW discs. But for the most part, the majority of audio CD players will only play CD-R discs.

2. Burn speed.
Each brand of CD-R has a certified maximum burn speed, which is expressed as a multiple of the audio playback speed. So, a disc certified at 24x can be burnt at 24 times faster than the audio CD will be spinning when it is played. You must set the burn rate in your CD duplication software according to the disc's specification, or the data will not be written reliably. This can result in skips, or CD-Rs that will play to a certain point and then just stop. Ideally you want to burn your CD lower than the certified speed, to take into account manufacturing defects in your burner or the disc.

3. Brand of CD-R
If you have been burning CDs for a while, you probably have noticed that some brands of CD-Rs work well in some players, and some do not. CD-R discs are said to be "burned". When you burn a CD-R disc, a focused laser beam darkens the chemical dye on your disc to mimic the bumps and flat spots that are generated on a replicated disc. (For more info on the differences between burning (CD duplication) and pressing (CD replication), please read my last article.
http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Differences-Between-Short-Run-And-Long-Run-Cd-And-Dvd-Duplication-And-Replication&id=158412 )
Unfortunately, sometimes the mimicry is not perfect. And if you have an older CD player that was not designed to play CD-Rs, it will not always play them reliably.

By all means this is not a complete guide for troubleshooting your CD burning problems. But it should at least give you a little more insight into why those darn mix CDs you burned will not play in your home or car stereo! My best advice is that you burn your CDs according to the certified maximum burn speed (lower if possible), and try out different brands of CD media until you find one that works best in your player.

LG BD370 Blu-Ray Disc Player Review

It's time to up grade to the next level in your home entertainment arsenal. After reviewing countless articles and websites for the best value and performance, I have narrowed my choice down to the LG BD370. The price has been reduced by at least $100 since it was first released late in 2008. My logic is simple when purchasing high tech equipment-wait until the hype is over and purchase my items for a huge discount. 2010 is almost here and the new stuff from 2009 is old news making them available at bargain basement prices.

The innovative technologies you need in an optimal Blu-ray disc player to achieve the premier home theater experience are all included in the LG BD370 disc player. I am amazed at how this entry level Blu-ray disc player delivers the best in picture, and sound capabilities.

The biggest selling point in my decision for making the LG BD370 my top choice was the ability to connect to the Internet via an Ethernet connection and watch streaming movies from Netflix and YouTube!

With YouTube, a list of five videos is generated and displayed at a time and they're played in a small box on the right hand side.  The small box of movie selections can also be displayed in full screen with one click of the remote. You can't control the clips using the remote's normal playback buttons, instead you have to highlight the onscreen icons, but you can skip forward/back using the chapter skip keys.

While comical, if technologically deficient, videos of people doing stupid stuff at home or kicking each other in the groins on YouTube doesn't exactly sound like the biggest selling point, the CinemaNow and Yahoo! video partnership should give users access to content previously trapped on your computer.

I checked the CinemaNow website which boasts more than 14,000 titles from the major movie studios, broadcast and cable television shows. Talk about selection for your LG BD370!   Unlike the Netflix model where you sign up for a monthly fee and get unlimited access, CinemaNow is an "On-Demand" model where you only pay for what you want. The LG BD370 will allow users to browse the entire CinemaNow premium content catalog, instantly stream content, and access and watch movies purchased from other CinemaNow-powered stores. CinemaNow is the first broadband distributor of high definition content!

Another selling point was the fast start up time. And indeed, the start-up time really is not an issue with the LG BD370.   From power-up to when the disc starts displaying on your TV takes about 20 seconds - and that 20 seconds include the time it takes for the tray to open, the disc to go in and the tray to close again.

If you've got old DVDs at home that you want to watch on an HD TV, then you'll enjoy the awesome upscaling technology provided by the LG BD370 Blu-ray player.  I never knew that it would make such a drastic improvement in my movie watching!   The LG BD30 Blu-ray picture quality is excellent; with everything from skin tones to tree trunks and wheat fields coming through realistically. Fast-paced actions scenes from action movies are well-handled with a superb level of clarity.

If you are going to upgrade your home entertainment this year, check out all the feature and benefits of the LG BD370 Blu-ray disc player.  You will not be dissappointed.  Amazon usually has the best prices and offers an upgrade for for free delivery on the LG BD370 Blu-ray disc player.

What Will You Learn From a Lifestyle V10 Home Theater System Review?

There was a time when having a "home theater" was a pretty big deal. The thought of having a huge television screen with surround sound was what people have been dreaming about. But now, that dream is much more accessible and affordable for everyone and by reading a Lifestyle V10 Home Theater System review, you will see that this product is the product of choice for many people who love watching movies.

Just having a large, HD television is not enough these days. With the advent of Blu-Ray disk players, you are missing out on a lot of the sounds and experience of the movies that are made today. Movies in 3D on DVD Coming to a Blu-Ray 3D DVD Player in Your Home

With the advent of the latest 3D technology leading to a customer demand for movies in 3D on DVD the Blu-ray industry, led from the front by the Blu-ray Disc Association, have been working flat out to finalize a standard for delivering stereoscopic (3D) video in high definition on a Blu-ray disc to be played on a Blu-ray 3D DVD player. This is now in place and in the hands of Blu-ray player manufacturers and DVD disc producers so everything is set for the next stage of the 3D revolution to start.

January 2010 will see DVD releases that are able to deliver a full 1080p high definition, at home, 3D experience. The technology is able to run two 1080p frames to the screen which are then transformed into a 3D image with the use of the latest LCD shutter glasses, passive filter glasses or active filter switching glasses. Another positive with the standard is the ability of a 3D disc to be played on a non-compatible player which will result in a normal 2D play back.

To take full advantage of the imminent influx of 3D enabled TV, consumers will need to invest in the compatible hardware such as 3D enabled TV systems, the new generation of Blu-ray players and a few pairs of the latest LCD shutter 3D glasses. All the components are in place with major consumer electronics manufacturers like Panasonic, LG, Philips and Sony ready to launch their latest TV ranges utilizing the HDMI 1.4 standard. Samsung have already pushed their 240HZ LCD 3D TV systems into mass production in what seems like an attempt to get a jump on the competition.

The Samsung Blu-ray 3D DVD player BD-C6900 became the first of the new breed of Blu-ray DVD player to make it onto the shelves and can in fact be purchased right now on Amazon, or perhaps the few that surfaced have already gone, in what I see as a price testing exercise on Samsung's part. By the way the launch price was $399. Amazon have also been selling movies in 3D on DVD format for a couple of weeks or so now along with the latest 3D glasses which all points to the start of the new 3D TV revolution.

Noel Swinton is an online consumer electronics reporter. With LCD 3D TV at present a certainty, his 3D TV and Movies in 3D DVD Review web-site might let you make a decision on which of the latest 3D DVD Releases maybe suitable for your families home entertainment needs.

MP3 Player Shopping Guide

Clueless about MP3 players? If you are itching to buy one and join the bandwagon, then here are some tips to help give you a better idea of what players are all about and how you can choose which model of player is perfect for your needs and lifestyle.

Tip#1Basic MP3 player aesthetics

Players are generally designed for portability and easy handling. This is why when it comes to shopping for an player, especially if it's your first time, size does matter. There are a lot of players out there that are of the same size as your usual USB flash disk but what is more considered as hip nowadays is the Apple iPod shuffle and the Creative Zen stone, which are both just about the size of one's thumb.

Tip#2 Basic MP3 player features

Expect entry-level MP3 players to have a memory space of about 1 gig up to 8 gig. If you are being offered a cheap player with a memory of anything less than 1 gig, like 128MB or 512MB, then you are more or less being duped into buying a low-quality MP3 player. Since watching videos - even full-length movies have become the norm with players, electronics distributors have now started selling MP4 players as well. Some Creative Lab as well as most Apple iPod players have already gotten this upgrade.

Tip#3 MP3 player add-ons

Another thing that is worth considering when buying an player is if it will have lots of available accessories that you can use as add-ons. Both Apple and Creative Lab have come up various types of accessories for their line of players, from silicone cases, crystal cases to unique portable speakers. Showing that they have a wide variety of accessories for players, there is also a whole line of Creative Lab iPod speaker docks available in the market today.

Blu Ray Error in PlayStation 3 - It Is Fixable

It happens with the people that they specially buy a very interesting movie for themselves to watch and when they insert it in the PS3 then error occurs which is stated as "Disc cannot be played". Mostly the error which pops up on the screen is 'Blue ray error 80029940'. When something like this happens it is very heart breaking as you have already made up your mind for watching the movie. This Blu ray error occurs a lot in PlayStation 3, some people also experience Disc not Play error. First of all you should check the Blu ray disc because the surface of this disc is even more sensitive than a DVD. If you see any scratches then that should be causing the Blu ray error.

If you had any errors like this before then better compare them with each other and see if there is any difference between them. That might also work in solving Disc not Play error. Check another disc on the PS3 and if it is showing the same error then you can say without a doubt that the disc player has encountered a problem. It is easy to take your PS3 to a service center and get the Blu ray error fixed and also the Disc not Play but remember it will cost you hundreds of dollars. If you think that you have the ability to fix the error then get a proper guide which explains the solution perfectly.

Some of the basic things you need to remember before fixing your PlayStation 3 are that you should have enough time. It will take you an hour or so to fix the console. Keep a container or box with you in which you should put all the screws which you took out. You should always have a lot of light at the working area and remember that the working area should also be clean. When you will take the parts apart clean them and then put them back with a vacuum cleaner but don't let any screw get in the vacuum cleaner. If you will follow these steps then you can fix the Blu ray error easily.

Why to give so many dollars and waste a lot of time by giving your PS3 away for Blu ray error or Disc not Play problem when you can solve it yourself within few hours.

The Functioning of a CD Player

CD players are a very common item in every household nowadays. But, not every one of us is aware about how they work. If we have a closer look at the electronic market, we will find various types of players manufactured by a wide range of companies, such as Sony, Akai, and Toshiba etc. Above all, these are quite different from one another in terms of style, quality as well as design.

From the portable to the large ones, there are various types of CD players which are available in the market. In terms of cost too, the price varies from company to company. However, whatever may be the size or quality, every CD player has the basic components like a tracking device, a drive motor, and a laser and lens system. Also, all of them have the capacity to interpret data which have been stored as electric bumps.

No how do these things work? It is the drive motor which plays a major role in the functioning of the player. It makes the disc spin at a particular pace and also it gradually adjusts the speed. However, the correct pace depends upon which part the player is actually interpreting. Another important part is the tracking mechanism which helps the laser and the lens system to focus on the miniscule bumps.

The CD player works in a very interesting manner. After this the data interpreted by the laser and the lens system is stored on the surface of the CD. This data is stored in the form of elongated bumps which is only 0.5 microns big.

Also, the CD or compact disc where data is stored is a very sensitive element. It is made up of different layers of polycarbonate and aluminum. So, while trying to play a song in the CD player, firstly the laser beam tries to penetrate layer after layer. The aluminum layer is a good reflector of light, since this layer is a good reflector the changes in the reflections can be easily detected by the player.

LG BD 390 Network Blu-Ray Disc Player Review

Design: The LG BD 390 has gone for a conventional and refined look complete with a glossy, reflective faceplate accented by silver trimmings. The player offers an LCD screen near the center along with four playback controls. A removable plastic cover hides a USB port on the front. While the footprint remains more or less standard the player looks thinner and sleeker, allowing it to fit well in both home and office. The remote control was very good with simple to use and large sized controls.

Specifications: The LG BD 390 is Profile 2.0 compatible and with its 1GB of on-board storage you won't need a USB flash drive to access BD-Live features and content. As the player is equipped with both an Ethernet port as well as IEEE 802.11n WiFi this isn't a problem. Thankfully the player also supports 802.11b/g networks as well. Through its USB port the player can also handle MP3, JPEG, PNG, AVI, WMA, DivX-HD, XVID and even MKV file formats. With a fast connection the player can stream media to PCs on your network. The player also offers onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio along with support for bit stream output. It can also play DVDs in legacy DTS formats, like DTS 96/24, ES, ES Matrix, and Neo:6. Connection wise, the player offers a HDMI output, a component video output, a legacy composite video output, 7.1 analog outputs, optical and coaxial digital audio outputs as well as analog stereo output.

Features & Performance: With support for Netflix streaming and built-in Wired and wireless connectivity the LG BD 390 offers plenty of new features. The player also offers support for YouTube and CinemaNow. The interface is simple but surprisingly responsive with super fast loading times. Performance for video quality was also top notch with almost no jagged edges. DVD performance was also excellent. Overall, with so many extra features, the LG BD 390 still delivers great quality as a Blu-ray Disc player. The extra features like the Netflix support and wireless connectivity make the player perfect for the HD viewer who likes to stay connected.

IRiver MP3 Player Review

Since 2004, when the IRiver H320 was born with its nicely colored screen and good photo support, several IRiver products have come out on the MP3 players' market with slightly different design and improved features.

Those who have tried the IRiver H10 model with a slim case, colour screen and touch stroller must have noticed it is quite a pleasure to operate. Besides, the FM receiver and the high quality audio recording make it competitive. This model includes SRS surround effects as well. The FM is easy to program and operate both in cities and rural areas.

There are three quality levels to choose from for voice recording and they are very good, especially the medium and high level. One thing that owners have complained about is the fact that the colour screen becomes unreadable as soon as the backlight goes off, although the brightness and contrast are all right. Another flaw may be the too low resolution for viewing photos. Lastly, you cannot download directly from a digital camera but you can transfer text files to it and read them with the browser.

The IRiver T10 running on a single AA battery (which is said to deliver up to 45 hours of playback) offers up to 1 GB of storage. It looks quite attractive and offers good sound quality as well as some extra features such as a voice recorder and an FM tuner. It is a durable player and with a splash-proofing included it would have been gorgeous. However, it is considered rather expensive for what it offers.

The IRiver Clix gen 2 offers a lot of features in a great design. It uses flash memory and comes in different capacities (2, 4 and 8 GB). It is also a bit slimmer than previous models and the resolution is very sharp. The AMOLED screen draws less power from the battery which is a plus.
They say the ear buds are really crappy, some of the worst ever seen but the rest looks OK and you can replace those if you really want to. The FM tuner and the games included will probably make you forget about such flaws. All in all, it looks good, the extra features are enough and the player is very easy to handle.

The IRiver E100 looks sweet and offers good audio file support and extras (such as line-in recording and a micro SD slot) but it is not very easy to use from the moment you get hands on it. You may spend quite a while fiddling with its options which is not a very good thing in a player. Those who have tested the IRiver clix say that one is far easier to use and more fun as well.

The IRiver L Player looks like the IRiver clix but smaller. You can navigate by pressing down on the sides and corners of the screen. It is a truly diminutive player, weighing only 1.45 oz. and measuring 2.36x1.69x0.51 inch (HWD). The screen occupies almost the entire front surface, which makes you wonder how to hold it so as not to block the screen. It is easy to navigate the interface if you get used to its options. Again, the bundles ear buds are rather poor but the player sounds great.k

The Advantages of the Latest DJ Equipment Capable of Playing MP3s

Disc Jockey plays a glamorous role in a parties, events or functions. However, DJing is not all about playing records and catering to audience's requests. It's also about owning the right kind of DJ equipment and of course having an ear for music. To play the right kind of music and to be an instant hit with your audience, you need to have all the proper gear for playing music. Having the right gadgets will always put the DJ at an advantage, especially if he or she is a beginner in the field. While it's true that it's not just the music player that keeps the show going, a whole lot of importance should be attributed to DJ equipment.

To create music that flows seamlessly, the DJ should be aware of the latest trends in DJ equipment. There are traditional vinyl decks such as Technics 1200, which DJs use, but newer and better software is coming into the market, which can help DJs to create an entirely remarkable sound. ION is a company that has come up with a special product that enables your vinyl DJ equipment to play MP3s too. There are still DJs who prefer to play with the vinyl, because they can "scratch" it whenever they want and create something new.

DJ equipment from Pioneer will help in spinning live performances that exude reliability, excellent sound quality and operability. Pioneer has recognised the need for new generation players and has come up with a new digital multi-media player that enhances the professionalism of DJs. CDJ850 is the newest DJ equipment released by Pioneer. It integrates a large jog dial to help juggle tasks and create free flowing music without any hindrance. This one not only incorporates a USB port, but also allows DJs to mix in a variety of music formats like MP3, wav, aac and aiff. The major advantage that players like CDJ850 have over all other traditional players is that they have a horde of functions that help create better music.

Apart from enabling the DJ to create and edit play lists, the latest music accessories in the market can register tracks while playing music and queue it up to the play list. It also has a user-friendly interface and the DJ will have all the information of any particular song readily available. Some of the latest players allow DJs to control the tempo of music through a variety of settings.

Denon has also come out with some remarkable DJ equipment lately. They have released something called a DN-S700 Tabletop CD/MP3 Disc Player. Compared to Denon's flagship DJ equipment, this one really gets the crown, as it features four pitch ranges, fader start, pitch bend auto or manual BPM, one hot start, three onboard FX and, CD text display. DN-S700 allows MP3 playback, contains a new and powerful DSP and memory that excels the limit of all other music players currently in the market. In addition, it allows for file search quite easily by doing the job automatically and storing music for extended playback. This premium-grade player allows professional entertainers to provide unprecedented creativity and ultimate showmanship. Whatever DJ equipment one has, it is mandatory to look after them carefully because of the susceptibility to wear and tear resulting from constant usage.

The DJ equipment that most DJs use is composed of ordinary CD players, turntables and pitch-controlled computer equipment. DJs also have a mixer that allows music to playback through one channel while the DJ can listen in on the second channel with headphones. Apart from the music player and headphones, audio players should also consist of the PA system, an effects unit, microphones, speakers, a drum machine and other instruments that help to create good music. The DJ should also possess a sound system that magnifies the music and creates waves in the hall. Such tools are indispensable parts of a DJ's setup.

How to Buy the Best MP3 Player For Your Needs

Almost everyone these days who does not already own an MP3 player of some kind is probably thinking of buying one. Many will want just an mp3 player but many others will be more interested in a full-on digital media player which will show images and play video rather than just mp3 music tracks.

The type of mp3 player required will depend on what it is to be used for. If you are trying to get or stay fit and regularly visit the gym or go running in the park then the ability to replay music in a very small portable unit, such as the iPod Shuffle, is probably all you need.

If you prefer to watch music videos instead of just listening to music tracks or if you are a film buff and want to watch movies on your mp3 player then you will need video replay functionality. This is now found on most mp3 players, including most of Apple's iPod range, such as the iPod Classic, iPod Touch and more recently the iPod Nano.

An mp3 player, which can also display images and photographs, will be of great use to any level of photographer whether professional or amateur. When on location or later back home it is now very easy to transfer digital photos from a digital camera to a mp3 player that has the required functionality for photographic storage. This is a great way to back up photos as secure copies.

Whatever you want to do with your new mp3 player you will need to ensure that you can do what you want with the model you buy and that it is easy to transfer digital media from the sources you want to use. For instance all iPod users will want to connect to the iTunes store to buy and download music, movies and podcasts. It will be the same for other mp3 players, so check this out before buying.

You can also use some mp3 players as backup media for your personal computer, but the player you choose will have to have a high storage capacity to enable you to do this. A model like the Apple iPod Classic 80gb would be ideal for this. Make sure that the relevant software is available to help you undertake transfers of documents and files from your computer hard drive.

As with everything you get what you pay for, so if you need more functionality from your mp3 player it is going to cost you more to get it. There are many different manufacturers and models of mp3 players available and you should go online to do your research and to find the best deal. There you will find the biggest choice and detailed information on the most recent models.

To find the best discount mp3 players checkout large online stores like eBay and Amazon as they always have a massive choice and some of the best prices on cheap iPods and other digital media players.

Toshiba 15LV505 15.6-Inch Widescreen LCD TV (with Built-in DVD Player)

To this day, I am still very surprised at fact that there is so little all-in-one television sets in the market. In recent years, majority of the households in the US have a TV set and a DVD player. Despite that fact, there is only a handful of TVs with a built-in DVD player in the market. Here is a quick review of one of the best models, the Toshiba 15LV505 15.6-Inch widescreen LCD TV.

Specifications: The Toshiba 15LV505 15.6-Inch widescreen LCD TV can play videos at up to 1366 x 768 in resolution (720p). It also has an 800:1 contrast ratio. Besides playing DVD movies, this model also supports WMA files, MP3, JPEG and DIVX playback. It has a 5ms response time and built-in stereo speakers. It ships with an attached stand, a remote control and a power cable.

Design: This model has a high gloss front panel and stand. The speakers are located below the screen and the DVD player is located on the back of the LCD screen. To load a DVD, you simply slide in the disc from the side. One of the biggest flaws of this model is that it can't be mounted on the wall. It also does not have any connection ports on the front. All the connection ports are located on the back of the TV. It measures at 5.5 inches thick.

Summary: the Toshiba 15LV505 15.6-Inch widescreen LCD TV produces very clear images, especially for a 15" screen. The back-lights, picture format and audio are highly customizable. The surface of the screen is matte, which greatly reduces the amount of glare in a brightly lighted room. On the downside, the stand is not adjustable and cannot be rotated from side to side. I also wish that it came with bigger screens as the 15" display really limits its use. Nevertheless, it is a great little LCD TV to have in small and tight spaces (like your kid's room, kitchen, office or boat).

One can therefore put it to greater use.

Most of these devices measure about 43 x 28 x 8cm in width, depth and height and weigh only about 3 kilograms. The early DVD reorders were designed to be rather big but nowadays they are getting to be smaller and sleeker. Some recorders can also be upgraded. The stereo audio technology enhances the sound system. It is the pictbridge compatibility which makes it rather special. Most of these devices offer a 500GB HDD storage capacity. The hard disk drive can store memory up to 160GB with an ability to store both audio and video files. There is a facility to reduce the noise while recording and to have up scaling. Including making it one of the fastest Blu-ray Players with disc loading and boot up speeds of 15 seconds. Other features include online streaming, built-in Wi-Fi and DLNA compliant.

Keeping in line with most new Blu-ray Players, the BD-C650 has a sleek, modern look with a slim design and black glossy finish. Samsung has applied a new Graphical User Interface (GUI) with this years batch of Blu-ray players. Using a more image based menu, Samsung hopes this will make it easier for the user to make selections. The user even has a choice between four skins to customize the GUI's appearance. Also, like all Samsung's Blu-ray Players this year, the BD-C6500 player meets all Energy Star 4.0 guidelines.

Video Quailty: The BD-C6500 has a HDMI Output, Component Video outputs and Composite Video Outputs. DVDs can be up-scaled to 1080p, so you can still enjoy your DVD collection at near High Definition quality.

Audio Quality: Audio connections for the BD-C6500 include HDMI, Optical Digital Audio Outputs an analog Audio Outputs (Stereo & 7.1 Ch). This allows content to be streamed between DLNA devices. For example, you can stream files stored on your computer to the Blu-ray Player and watch them on your TV.

THE PROS: Samsung is claiming the BD-C6500 to be the world's fastest Blu-ray Player. Having a 15 second disc load and 15 second boot up makes for a strong argument.
